FAQ
These are the questions Australian parents ask most about the High Kiddie portable booster seat, from age and size to Kickstarter, shipping and your rights under Australian Consumer Law. High Kiddie is a mealtime seat, not a car seat. For a deeper read, see our portable booster seat guide.
About the High Kiddie portable booster seat
What is the High Kiddie portable booster seat?
High Kiddie is an inflatable, portable booster seat that raises a child to table height on an existing chair for mealtimes. It packs down small and goes in a reusable fabric pouch. It is a mealtime seat, not a car seat.
Is High Kiddie a high chair?
No. High Kiddie is a booster seat, not a high chair, and it may not replace all the functions of a traditional high chair. It relies on an existing chair, which is why checking the chair matters. Our portable booster seat guide explains the difference.
What ages is High Kiddie designed for?
High Kiddie is designed for children from 9 months to 5 years who can sit upright unassisted. Check that your child can sit up without help before every use. If you are unsure whether your child is ready, ask your GP or child and family health nurse.
What is the maximum child weight?
The maximum child weight is 20 kg. Check your child is within the age and weight limits each time you use the seat.
How big and heavy is High Kiddie?
High Kiddie weighs 1.5 kg and packs down to 20 cm x 20 cm x 14 cm. Inflated, it measures 33 cm high x 47 cm wide x 40 cm deep.
What is High Kiddie made of?
High Kiddie has a TPU liner and washable fabric. It comes in a reusable fabric pouch, with no additional packaging.
What comes in each pack?
Each pack includes the seat and a carry bag. You can choose one, two or three seats. Prices are in the cost question below.
How does High Kiddie inflate?
High Kiddie is an inflatable seat, and the inflated size is 33 cm high x 47 cm wide x 40 cm deep. Follow the instructions that come with the seat for how to inflate it and check it before each use.
Using High Kiddie at home and out
Which chairs can I use High Kiddie on?
Chair fit depends on the chair, so check it before every use. Choose a stable chair that does not rock, swivel or have wheels, fit the seat with your child out of it, then push and tilt it to test. See our toddler booster seat guide.
Does High Kiddie have a harness?
Check the product page and the instructions for the harness details before you buy. Whatever seat you choose, look for a harness that fastens firmly, because the ACCC reports falls are the most common injury involving high chairs.
Does High Kiddie have a tray?
Each pack includes the seat and a carry bag. Check the product page for anything else included before you buy. A tray is not listed as part of the pack.
Can I use High Kiddie in the car?
No. High Kiddie is a mealtime seat and not a car seat. It must never be used as a child restraint in a vehicle. Child restraints used in Australian cars must comply with AS/NZS 1754.
Can my child sleep in High Kiddie?
No. High Kiddie is for upright, supervised mealtimes only. If your child falls asleep, take them out of the seat.
Do I need to stay with my child while they eat?
Yes. Stay with your child for the whole meal and keep them seated. Raising Children Network says sitting while eating is important to prevent choking.
How do I clean High Kiddie?
High Kiddie has a TPU liner and washable fabric. Follow the care instructions that come with the seat, wipe it after meals and let it dry fully before packing it away.
Standards and safety information
Is High Kiddie certified or tested?
We do not claim that High Kiddie is certified to any standard on this page. The ACCC says there is no mandatory standard for high chairs, and CHOICE says there is no Australian standard for portable baby seats. Use High Kiddie as instructed and supervise your child.
Does High Kiddie meet AS 4684:2009?
AS 4684:2009 is the Australian standard for high chairs. High Kiddie is a booster seat, not a high chair, and we do not claim it meets that standard.
Buying High Kiddie on Kickstarter
When is High Kiddie launching?
High Kiddie is now live on Kickstarter. You can back us on the High Kiddie Kickstarter page.
How much does High Kiddie cost?
Kickstarter pledges are A$85 for one seat with carry bag, A$160 for two seats and A$245 for three seats. Shipping within Australia is A$25 for the 1 and 2 seat packs, and free for the 3 seat pack.
How does Kickstarter work?
Kickstarter is an all or nothing platform. A project must reach its funding goal to go ahead, and if it does not, nobody is charged. Kickstarter also says it is not a store, so backing a project is not the same as buying from a shop.
When will my card be charged?
If the campaign is funded, your card is charged when it reaches its funding deadline. If it does not reach its goal, your card is never charged. If you Late Pledge after a successful campaign, your card is charged immediately.
When will I receive my High Kiddie seat?
The estimated delivery is March 2027 (subject to change). After the campaign ends, the seats go into production and are then shipped by sea freight. Kickstarter says estimated delivery dates are a goal, not a guarantee, so we will post updates.
Do you ship outside Australia?
Not at the moment. We currently ship within Australia only. Our shipping policy has the details.
How much is shipping?
Shipping within Australia is A$25 for the 1 and 2 seat packs, and free for the 3 seat pack. The shipping cost is added to your pledge on Kickstarter, and our shipping policy explains how delivery works.
Faulty items, refunds and contact
What if my seat is faulty or damaged?
Email us at highkiddie@gmail.com. Under Australian Consumer Law, products must be of acceptable quality and match their description, and you can claim a remedy such as a repair, replacement or refund.
Can I cancel my pledge or get a refund?
While a Kickstarter project is live, you can cancel your pledge. Once a successful project has ended and collection has started, you cannot. Kickstarter does not issue refunds. Your Australian Consumer Law rights are not affected.
